To get started building your base in DayZ, you must first gather resources of which can be found at our traders – whether this be Green Mountain or Altar – or even in the wild. We utilize Base Building Plus, or BBP, for all your base building needs.
When it comes to building your base, you will be required to gather (or purchase) materials for your construction. Like any other construction – you will need materials such as wood, concrete, nails, sheet metal, tools, etc. You can find a list of the materials you will need once you’ve placed your kits down.
To help with structure, you can utilize the in-game UI at the top right (whilst placing down a kit) to toggle different functions, such as snapping, to help with placing your kits.
Before you begin building, it’s a good idea to acquire a flag pole first. The flag pole is a crucial piece to your building as it claims the territory around you, preventing other players from having the ability to build within your base, claim your base, or build around your base. This flag pole will also prevent your base from despawning. You can purchase a flag pole at any safe zone trader, or, you can craft it using sticks and rope.
It’s also a good idea to check where you’re planning on building first. To stay in compliance with our rules, you’ll want to stay away from No-build zones that are marked on the map.
To begin, visit your nearest trader and stop by the “Base Items” vending machine. There, you can browse and purchase any and all necessary materials for your construction. You can also stop by the “Tools” vending machine for any tools you may need for your construction.
